Soldering Iron

Hoegert brings you a wide collection of soldering irons manufactured with precision and the latest technology in mind.

What is a soldering iron?

Soldering is the process of joining different metals or solder wires together by melting solder. Solder is a metal alloy made of lead and tin, which is melted using heat from the soldering iron.

The iron is heated to temperatures exceeding its melting point, nearly 600 degrees Fahrenheit, and then cooled to create permanent, strong electrical bonds, such as copper pipe joints and copper joining in circuit boards. The flux inside the solder core helps strengthen and improve the iron’s mechanical properties.

Soldering can be carried out using soldering irons, wave soldering machines, and stations. However, soldering iron is the most common handy tool for this purpose.

Things to consider when buying a soldering iron

There are a number of key factors to consider when choosing a soldering iron. These are as follows:

Power and operating tip temperature range: A soldering iron should be powerful enough to release heat to a certain melting point of the applied solder. Tin melts at temperatures from about 180°C to 230°C. Lower temperatures are needed for alloys containing lead, but those are currently less common. Lead-free solders melt at temperatures between 210°C to 230°C. Considering all this, the soldering iron must heat to at least this temperature.

Tip type and shape: The soldering tip transfers thermal energy to the soldered workpiece, making it the most important part of the soldering iron. However, this part wears off quickly, so when buying a soldering iron, make sure the matching soldering tips are available and easily replaceable.

The preferred soldering tips are chisel, conical, hoof, and mini spoon. Also, the size of the tip should be compatible with the soldered element. The tip’s shape affects the solder distribution on the soldered surface.

Ergonomics: You need a soldering iron with a comfortable handle so that you can perform time-consuming operations easily. Choose a device fitted with an ergonomic handle and a non-slip surface. This allows you to perform longer operations without hand fatigue.

Cord or cordless soldering irons: Cordless soldering irons are becoming more common because of the comfort they provide. Apart from gas-powered soldering irons, you can also buy battery-powered soldering irons. Such irons don’t feature a cord, so you don’t have to worry about messy cables. Cordless cables are an ideal solution for fieldwork, camping sites, and similar situations.

Price: Rather than spending money on a cheaper product that fails after some time, it is good to look for a mid-range iron. At Hoegert, we bring you the best-performing soldering irons within an affordable price range without compromising on quality.

Buy Good Quality Soldering Irons at a Reasonable Range from Hoegert

At Hoegert, we manufacture top-quality soldering irons from durable, long-lasting materials. We offer different types of soldering irons in different sizes and powers.

We offer soldering irons with up to 30 W power for soldering parts on small electronic components and integrated circuit boards. Irons with 40-60 W are for electrical and electronic components, and 80-100 W soldering irons are suitable if more soldering power is required.

We also have battery-powered, gas-powered, and transformer soldering irons in our collection. A transformer soldering iron is very often used for cable splicing. It can also be used to connect elements with larger cross-sections, such as automotive electrical installations or low-voltage domestic electrical installations. Some of our products also feature temperature control.

Every soldering iron in our collection boasts high-quality workmanship and trouble-free operation. Depending on the product, you also get additional accessories such as a sponge, tin, tripod, and charging cable.
