Unlike external versions, the spring action of these pliers pushes outward, creating the pressure needed to hold retaining rings in place. External circlip pliers: External versions can fit around the outside of a dowel or shaft in a groove. They exert the spring pressure inwards toward the shaft to provide grip. These pliers help open external circlips for installation, allowing the ring to expand and fit easily over the shaft or dowel.

Ring circlip pliers: Our heavy-duty ring circlip pliers are designed for larger machinery assembly and repairs. We offer both internal and external ring circlip pliers, each of which has an additionally inductively hardened head for durability.

Straight circlip pliers: Hoegert’s straight internal circlip pliers are best for standard retaining ring installation and removal, especially in narrow spaces. They provide a balance between control, accuracy, grip, and general accessibility.

Bent circlip pliers: Our angled or bent circlip pliers are suitable when working in harder-to-reach areas. Because of their curved tips, you don’t need to use them straight.
